Many conditions look alike on the surface. Trouble concentrating, irritability, withdrawal, or acting out can have very different causes, and each calls for a different approach. A psychological evaluation brings clarity.
Serving children and families from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and across Northern California at our Napa office, with evaluations also available by telehealth in California, Washington, New York, and Texas.
What we offer
- Diagnostic clarification
- Emotional and behavioral concerns
- Parenting capacity and family functioning
- School and treatment planning
- Collaboration with schools, providers, and families
Why an accurate diagnosis matters
We believe diagnosis is the foundation of every effective intervention. When the diagnosis is unclear or incomplete, treatment can stall. An accurate diagnosis lets everyone focus on what will actually help.
Questions we help answer
- Is this ADHD, anxiety, depression, or something else?
- Are emotional or behavioral concerns connected to learning or developmental differences?
- How do several co-occurring concerns fit together?
- What supports at home and school will make the biggest difference?
What to expect
- Initial conversation. We talk with you about your concerns, whether an evaluation is the right fit, and what records will help.
- Parent interview and records review. We gather developmental, medical, and school history and, with your permission, input from teachers and other providers.
- Testing with your child. Your child completes engaging, standardized activities, paced with breaks so we see their best effort.
- Feedback and report. We meet with you to explain the results in plain language and provide a written report with clear recommendations for home, school, and treatment.
